Travel Fellowship Scheme

The travel fellowship scheme for 2017 is now open.

We are lucky to receive funds from a number of our sponsors each year to be used as Travel Fellowships to help delegates who submit abstracts attend the meeting to present their work. The funds can be used towards costs to pay for travel, registration and accommodation.

We are pleased to announce that Diagenics Ltd, Mead Johnson Nutrition and Nutricia Early Life Nutrition have so far supported the scheme this year.

We will accept applications from both BSACI and non BSACI members. If your application is accepted you could receive the following funding depending on the number of nights you will be staying.

  • One night stay = £200
  • Two nights stay = £300
  • Three nights stay = £400

We are proud that this scheme is supporting an increase in attendance and abstract submission. We are now supporting around 70 students and healthcare professionals who have less access to financial resources each meeting. To target our support amongst delegates presenting posters who need the most support, funds are allocated according to the number of nights of accommodation needed and their stage in each career. Students, trainees grades, scientific researchers, allied health professionals are all considered eligible for awards with priority given to bsaci members. We no longer have enough funds to support consultant attendance within the travel fellowship scheme except in exceptional circumstances.

Fellowships will be awarded on the grounds of those perceived to be in most financial need or having incurred the greatest expense to attend, rather than on the particular strength of their abstract itself. In 2016 the average level of funds allocated was around £200. If you have any questions please contact
